We typically let our hunters choose the method of hunting Texas Trophy Elk that they prefer. Hunters of Trophy Elk can choose the Spot and Stalk method, Bow Hunting, Rifle Hunting, Black Powder, Safari Style Hunting, Handgun, as well as hunting from a Blind. We can accommodate hunters of any age and experience level, as well as hunters which have physical disabilities or may be confined to a wheelchair. Our preferred method of hunting Elk is Safari Style so that we can cover more land in a shorter period of time, but sometimes, we'll just sit at a water-hole and wait for the big bulls to come in for a drink.
The Trophy Elk that we offer on our Texas Hill Country Ranches range from 6X6 Bulls in the 300 inch range up to World Record Class Elk Bulls well over 500 inches SCI or B&C. Most of these Rocky Mountain Elk have genetics that were brought into Texas many generations ago, and are genetically and physically superior to the Elk you will find elsewhere in Texas or New Mexico...these Elk typically yield around 300 lbs of meat at the processor. Texas Hunt Lodge holds multiple World Records for Elk Hunts.

The Elk is one of the largest species of deer and is one of the largest mammals in North America. Only the males have antlers, which start growing in the spring and are shed each winter. The largest antlers may be 4 ft long and weigh 40 lb.
A great trophy Elk can score anywhere from 300 to 450. The largest Boone and Crockett score is 455, recorded in 2006. The Elk you will hunt with Texas Hunt Lodge range from 300 inches upwards of in the high 500 inch range.
Texas Elk hunting usually takes place from September 1st until antler drop, sometime in late January.
Older Elk bulls usually shed their antlers in early February while younger Elk bulls can be hunted through the month of February if still available. Elk Bulls usually remain in rut until late November. Texas Elk Hunting from October through December is usually best because of the lower temperatures.
