One year ago, tragedy struck our community, and life changed for so many families forever.
It is hard to put into words what this day means. The memories are painful. The loss is heavy. The grief is still very real. For many, the wounds from that day have not healed, and the road to recovery is still ongoing.
When the flood came to the Texas Hill Country, it did not spare our corner of it. In the days and weeks that followed, we watched neighbors lose homes, businesses, and the people they loved. We also watched something else: people from near and far drop everything to come and help.
Thank you to the helpers
Texas Hunt Lodge would like to take a moment to thank the incredible men and women who came into our community during one of its darkest hours. Many of them stayed here with us — not for comfort or recognition, but because they were here to help. They gave their time, their strength, their hearts, and in many cases, they carried burdens that no person should ever have to carry.
Thank you to Heroes for Humanity, Huffman K9’s, CHAIS, The IV Society, and the many other organizations, volunteers, first responders, search teams, recovery teams, neighbors, and friends who showed up when people needed them most. You stepped into heartbreak, devastation, and uncertainty, and you did it with courage, compassion, and selflessness.

To the victims and their families, please know that you have not been forgotten. To those still rebuilding homes, businesses, lives, and hearts, please know that we are still standing with you. Texas Hunt Lodge and many others in our area are still working to rebuild and recover, and we ask that everyone continue to keep this community in their thoughts and prayers.
We will always remember the heroes who lost their lives while trying to save and help others. We will always remember the innocent lives that were taken far too soon. We will always remember the families who were forever changed.
We remember
There are no words strong enough to describe the pain of this disaster, and there are no words deep enough to honor what so many endured. But today, we remember. We grieve. We pray. We give thanks for the helpers. And we continue to hold on to one another as we move forward, one day at a time.
