He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Management and a Master’s degree in Biology, specializing in wildlife parasitology and disease. Before joining Texas Hunt Lodge, Kody guided hunters across South Texas, the Texas Hill Country, and the Trans-Pecos region, working multiple species and terrain types throughout the state. He also served as a Wildlife Biologist on private ranches in both South Texas and the Trans-Pecos, helping landowners and operations improve wildlife populations, habitat quality, and long-term ranch management strategies.
Professional Experience & Conservation Impact
Kody’s professional experience includes work with multiple USDA agencies, including the USDA National Wildlife Research Center, the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), and the USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS). Through NRCS, he assisted landowners in South Texas and the Permian Basin, contributing to conservation planning and implementation across more than 1,000,000 acres—supporting native wildlife and exotic species, livestock operations, and agricultural production. His work with ARS focused on disease and parasitology affecting wildlife, exotics, and livestock in South Texas—expertise that aligns closely with responsible, sustainable hunting operations.
Industry Credentials & Leadership
Kody brings rare industry credentials to the lodge. He is a certified scorer for Trophy Game Records, Safari Club International (SCI), and the Texas Big Game Awards, helping clients understand trophy measurement, documentation, and record classifications. He is also certified by TVMDL, is a Texas Wildlife Association (TWA) TYHP Hunter Education Instructor, and a certified taxidermist—a combination that supports the full hunting experience, from education and ethics to trophy care and presentation.
Kody has contributed to 20+ research studies involving native wildlife, exotics, and vegetation, and his work includes being the first researcher to prove Amblyomma triste (the neotropical tick) is a disease vector. He has also published research placed in the Library of Congress. Kody currently serves as a board member of UHHI, continuing his involvement in the broader hunting and conservation community.
