The Sable antelope, native to Africa, can be hunted year-round in Texas. The Sable is a large, horse-like antelope with a standing mane (like a zebra). All Sables are born brown, then turn a rusty color, and continue to darken with age. Adult male sables will turn black. There are, however, contrasting white markings on the sable’s slender face and underbelly. Both male and female sable antelope have horns. The males will be larger and longer, reaching up to 60 inches long in giant trophy sable. The female horns will grow up to 39 inches. Big and horse-like, the male adult sable will weigh on average, 450-500 pounds, and the female will weigh anywhere from 400-500 pounds.
Indeed, this large, beautiful Sable antelope will make a great start or addition to your exotic trophy collection, contributing to animal conservation and providing a challenging target for seasoned hunters.
