At Texas Hunt Lodge, we offer the opportunity to hunt some of the largest Hog Deer in the world, with our hunt area boasting many World Record Class specimens and some of the finest herds to be found anywhere. The scope of our hunting options ensures that every outing into the forest or wilderness is thrilling and memorable.
We believe in giving our hunters the freedom to choose their preferred hunting method. Whether you prefer Spot and Stalk, Bow Hunting, Rifle Hunting, Black Powder, or Handgun, we ensure that each hunter can pursue Trophy Hog Deer according to their preference. Our experienced guides are equipped to accommodate hunters of any age and experience level, providing all necessary tracking gear and teaching techniques for effective stalking and shooting.
This hunt is available from May to mid-October when our Trophy Hog Deer are hard-antlered. We currently have some Hog Deer that are poised to rank number one in the record books for certain methods of hunting, such as Crossbow and Archery. Hog Deer Trophy Fee
Hog Deer Trophy Fee: $ 6500 *
Trophy Fee is in addition to $395 per day which covers All-Inclusive Hunt Package.
Non-hunting guests may accompany the hunter for an additional $200 per day which
covers lodging, meals and amenities as well.
Hog Deer, (Axis porcinus), are native to southern Asia from Pakistan to Burma. The Hog Deer are closely related to the Axis Deer or Chital. The Hog Deer gets it’s name as it is reminiscent of a pig; they run with their heads down through grass and often collide with other deer, and prefer not to jump obstacles or brush. In terms of behavior, they employ a unique method of movement to camouflage themselves within dense underbrush.
The Hog Deer is a short squatty deer with a heavy build with short legs and a short face. The Hog Deer has a brown coat with a dark dorsal stripe and white underside and rump.
Typical Hog Deer bucks have 3-points on each side of the antlers, a main beam plus a brow tine and burr off the main beam. Average Antler length in the Hog Deer ranges from 9 to 18 inches. Male Hog Deer weigh up to 95 lbs and females 60-75 lbs.
Hog Deer reaches sexual maturity at 12-16 months, and give birth to one, sometimes two, young after an 8 month gestation period.
