Hunting Trophy Markhor is a challenging endeavor, even in Texas, and we prioritize our hunters’ preferences in choosing their preferred hunting method. For those who enjoy the thrill of an expedition, the hunt can take you through rugged terrain, including mountain landscapes that require tracking skills and the use of binoculars and a rifle.

However, please note that Markhor hunting requires careful scouting and planning. We begin scouting Trophy Markhor months before your arrival, as their patterns change yearly. Some days, we may find Markhor perched 10 feet up in a tree, while other days, they may be spotted near waterholes late in the evening.

When booking your Markhor Hunt with Texas Hunt Lodge, we recommend planning for multiple days to increase your chances of success. Our experienced guides will provide everything from a guided safari experience to tips on effective camouflage and the proper use of your rifle scope.

They have successfully harvested Markhor with impressive spiral horns measuring in the 35-38″ range. Join us for an unforgettable hunting experience pursuing these elusive and majestic animals. Please ensure you have the necessary permit for hunting this rare game.

The Markhor (Capra falconeri), originally from the western Himalayas, is an endangered and very rare Goat antelope. Known as the National Animal of Pakistan, there are only 2000-4000 which exist in the wild. Conservation efforts are crucial to preserve this majestic wildlife species.

The Markhor is the largest of the goat antelope species with very large upright spiraling horns. Markhor horn length reach from 36 inches up to 48.5 straight measure for the “straight horned race Markhor,” while world record Markhor horns reach 51.5 inches straight and 65 inches along the outside curve for the “flare-horned Markhor.”

The double-keeled spiral curved horns make this exotic animal an extremely unique and prestigious trophy to add to any collection.

The Markhor weigh between 150 – 250 lbs at maturity. The Male Markhor has a long dark and silver beard and are typically brown in color. The older Markhor males whiten over time.

Both male and female Markhor have horns. Female Markhor horns are small spiral from 6 to 14 inches. The gestation period for the Markhor is 5 to 5.5 months and typically gives birth to 1-3 young.

The Markhor can, and will, jump an 8-foot high fence, so most are contained in working pens for longer durations of captivity.
