With hunts available year-round, there are no seasonal restrictions on pursuing Gaur in Texas, making it an ideal trophy hunt at any time of the year. These hunts often take you into the wilderness where you’ll experience the true essence of nature and wildlife.
Our hunters have the freedom to choose their preferred hunting method, whether it’s Spot and Stalk, Bow Hunting, Rifle Hunting, Black Powder, Safari Style Hunting, Handgun, or hunting from a Blind. Using binoculars and high-powered scopes, hunters can effectively target their prey with precision. We pride ourselves on accommodating hunters of all ages, experience levels, and physical abilities, ensuring that everyone can enjoy a successful and fulfilling hunting expedition.
Please note that due to federal Fish and Game laws, it is currently illegal to hunt 100% Pure Gaurs. However, the Gaur Bulls available for hunting at Texas Hunt Lodge are hybrids and are legal to hunt. Our experienced guides are always on hand to offer expert advice on tracking and camouflage techniques to avoid detection by both prey and potential predators.
Gaur Trophy Fee
The Gaur (Bos Gaurus) is the largest species of Wild Cattle in the world, larger than the Cape Buffalo. Its natural habitat spans across dense forest areas where it roams freely.
The Guar originates from South Asia and Southeast Asia. The largest populations of Gaur found today are in India.
The Gaur has a dark brown hide, which approaches black when the Gaur ages. The lower part of the Gaur’s legs is pure white. The Gaur’s horns are either Yellow or Greenish with Black Tips. Male Gaur often weighs 2500-3000 lbs and stand up to 6 and 7 ft high at the shoulder.
The Gaur is recognized by the high ridge on the forehead between his horns, and his horns are regularly curved throughout their length, and are bent inward and slightly backward at their tips. The Gaur’s ears are very large and provide acute hearing, essential for detecting predators in its natural environment.
